Well it’s the cars we drive, the home we live in, and the vacations we take.
It’s the education we provide and it’s the retirement we save for…
it’s living today while planning for tomorrow.
And guess what… your income supports it all!
But what if you were unable to work tomorrow due to an injury or illness? Would you and your family be protected?
Your income supports your lifestyle so consider this; If you could not work tomorrow, how long could you continue your current lifestyle?… days, weeks, months or years?
Accidents and sicknesses happen every day! […]
I don’t know about you…but I feel like someone flicked the switch from summer to fall … overnight!
Holy cow we needed the rain, but I had to light the pilot on the fireplace and turn on the furnace!
For me, this is a signal to start planning my annual trip to Mexico!
(My view in a couple of months!)
Now sometimes people say to me; “It must be nice to go away every winter…”
To which I reply… “It is … and you can too […]
What a fantastic summer I had!
Lots of golf, sun and fun.
But now it’s time to check back in with my goals and rock out the rest of the year!
A couple of nights ago, at my local Women’s Business Network, I talked about how women are allowing money problems to mess up their business (and life).
Money is a catch-all bucket of excuses and missed opportunities in our businesses … and lives for that matter. Because how you do money is how you do EVERYTHING. It ripples into all areas of your life.
Most of the ladies were nodding their head along when […]
When it comes to basic money management most of us know what we are ‘supposed’ to do, you know the basics; spend less than you earn – save for an emergency – and invest for your future.
However, establishing ‘good’ habits around money is easier said than done, for a whole lot of reasons!
Managing your money and other important things in your life (like an exercise or eating healthy program) takes discipline. And guess what, discipline isn’t a natural state for everyday or everyone. Oh, and let’s add the guilt and shame that you carry […]
Are you happy with the way you think about money? Are you in charge of your financial destiny? Do you have fun managing your money and setting goals?
Well if you said ‘No’ to any of the above, you may be hanging on to some money beliefs, habits or attitudes that are stopping you from having fun! Money is an emotionally volatile issue for most women. It’s probably the most complicated relationship we have – and the one that most controls our lives … if we let it!
Many of us hate organizing our financial […]
When it comes to attracting either more money or having more success, I’ve found what is really stopping us from living our dreams is limiting beliefs. Unknowingly (in most cases) we allow our fears and doubts to sabotage our success. And one thing I know for sure is that our beliefs are blueprints for our reality.
This mindset includes all your beliefs, values and experiences you’ve had so far… the […]
Summer is here! With that brings lots of fun outdoor activities; biking, water skiing, tubing, hiking and camping to name a few. Unfortunately, accidents can happen too. (I’ve seen some wicked tubing accidents and water skiing wipe-outs!)
Some accidents or sickness may only result in a few days off work… but others could result in weeks. A more serious incident may leave you unable to work for months or even years, causing you to have severe financial hardship.
While you are disabled you probably will have additional medical expenses; hospital care, home care, physiotherapy or chiropractic/massage services; all this coming at a […]
Aahhh taxes…love them or hate them, they are inevitable. If you have to pay more tax this year, that may mean that you made more money…which is always a good thing! I have found that when you are organized and have a plan, there really should be no stress at this time of year…yet there is! I highly recommend (especially if you are a business!) that you have a bookkeeper and an accountant to help you plan so there are no surprises.
Now if you are getting a […]
The deadline for RRSP contributions is fast approaching – March 1st! (In Canada) A question that I always get asked is; “Is the RRSP still the best way for me to fund my future, or should I be maximizing my contribution to a tax-free savings account first, and only then use my additional cash to contribute to an RRSP?”
Well, that depends on a whole lot of things; what do you need, what do you want and how do you want to get there?
RRSP’s can save you money today […]
I don’t know about you but sometimes we don’t stop to think about the exact meaning of what we are saying. Hey we are busy people and we don’t have time to scrutinize everything that comes out of our mouth. Sometimes we should but it would be a little crazy to do it for every sentence we spoke!
But there are times when we really do need to stop and focus on what words we are using and the meaning that goes with them.
One of these times is when we say that we “can’t afford” something. “Can’t afford” seems to say […]
